Yesterday the Orioles drilled Tadahito Iguchi, who had to leave the game, and he isn’t playing today. Ozzie Guillen came out trying to defend his team without waking up the Orioles. Today the Orioles his A.J. Pierzynski, no warning was given. Later in the game Mark Buehrle hit B.J. Surhoff with a pitch, with a one run lead, and a runner on 1st & two outs. Surhoff simply walked down to first. Immediately the home plate umpire Brian Gorman ejected Buehrle. The Hawk was incensed! GO SOX GO!!!

Hawk Harrelson is an idiot. No where does it say that a warning has to be issued. If Brian Gorman felt that Buehrle was throwing at Surhoff intentionally then he has every right to do what he did. Who knows what was transpiring down on the field. Hawk sure as heck doesn’t know. He’s 300 feet away. Any good umpire knows what’s going on and knows when guys are being thrown at. Buehrle didn’t even complain. Contrary to popular belief it’s not a good feeling to dump a player from a game. It’s avoided at all cost. But there are times when an umpire feels he needs to take control. Looking at the play I have no doubt in my mind that Buerhle was throwing at Surhoff. There’s no way he’s going to miss with a fastball in that location.
