But will it demand a long term contract??

A contact hitter who won’t take a walk. Not much power and certainly no speed. It’s a batting robot created by a tech firm in Germany called Robocross. The video is quite humorous. A pitching machine continually pitching to a batting robot. There’s a statement on society here somewhere.

Mini-bats in checked luggage, please

As this photo of a conveniently transparent bin at a TSA checkpoint in a Louisville, Kentucky airport attests, mini-bats are not allowed in carry-on luggage. Louisville is, of course, home of the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Pink bats, ugh.

Mark Littell takes one for the Nutty Buddy team

Former MLB players Mark Littell and Chris Sabo are getting behind (so to speak) an athletic cup called The Nutty Buddy.

Seriously, if you want a laugh, check out the video on their web site. Littell has a spiel where he gets hit in the nuts with a pitch. His country boy demeanor is hilarious and I’ll bet it will sell more than a few athletic cups.

It comes in three sizes: “The Boss”, “The Hog” and for those who are rather more endowed, “El Jefe”.

The marketing people there are geniuses.

Etch-a-Sketching his way through life

George Vlosich III has taken his boyhood pastime and is trying to make a go of it. He is creating some pieces of art on his Etch-A-Sketch (they’re actually pretty detailed) and selling them.

From the looks of his web site, he is quite the sports fan. He has some cool pictures of Ripken, Ali, Magic Johnson (I think) and a nice collage of Dodgers throughout history.

Vlosich has gotten a fair amount publicity with his artwork meeting a lot of sports personalities and celebrities as well as appearing on few talk shows.

He is selling lithographs of his work or the original Etch-A-Sketch by commission if you’re willing to shell out the bucks ($5000-8000, yikes!).

I could just imagine someone forking over the big bucks for the original and having it shipped to their house. Then his roommate brings in to the house…

“Hey Buddy! You got a package today. Wonder what it is?”

Joe Mikulik’s Bad Day at the Office

You gotta wonder if Asheville Tourist manager Joe Mikulik woke up Sunday morning with his antics all scripted in his head. Watching this video of him arguing with ump Andy Russell after Koby Clemens was called safe on a attempted steal, you gotta wonder.

I’ve seen some managers lose it before but this is really something. My guess is once he knew he was “outta there”, he decided to put on a show.

Either way, it is really quite amusing to watch.
