I think so.

Also of note today, Jamie Moyer lost his first of year. He’s now 4-1. Well, it couldn’t last forever but here’s one Moyer fan that hopes he keeps going strong throughout the season.

Guess who’s given up the least so far this year?
That’s right.. Minnesota.
They’ve given up only 41 walks in 28 games. The Red Sox are second with 72. That’s quite a difference.
Without looking it up, anybody care to guess which team has the most?
No, it’s not the Cubs. They’re second with 125.
Chalk up another victory for Illinois as they overcame Southern Illinois in extra innings 9-7. Aaron Saving (nice name for a reliever, eh?) got the win by pitching a 1-2-3 10th. Toby Gardenhire doubled in the go-ahead run. In case you’re wondering, Toby is indeed the son of Ron Gardenhire. The Illini remain in first … Continue reading “Illini Beat Salukis 9-7”

The Illini remain in first place, 2 games up on Minnesota.
Big four game set against Northwestern this weekend here in Champaign. Maybe I’ll catch a game or two.
I was browsing through MLB.com’s Milestone Tracker for pitchers and noticed that Buddy Groom just tied Ron Reed for 36th all time in Games Pitched. I know it’s due to the trends in use of relievers in today’s baseball but it’s hard for me to believe that Buddy Groom would be 36th all-time in anything.

Ryan Klesko, San Diego Padres 2 for 5, 2 HR, 2 runs, 3 rbis Last year, the Stomper had 9 homers in 400+ at bats. He already has 6 this year. Has he gotten his power stroke back?

A little catch-up work in regards to the Illini Baseball. They had a four game series over the weekend with Penn State. They had a four game series over the weekend with Penn State. Friday, Brian Blomquist pitched a complete game but it wasn’t enough as PSU came back to win 3-2.
Saturday was a different day as the Illini had their hitting shoes on. They won both games (6-3 and 6-4). Kudos to catcher Chris Robinson who had the game winning hit in both games.
Sunday, the Nittany Lions worked some revenge and managed a series tie by defeating the Illini 9-1. PSU starter Sean Stidfole pitched a complete game allowing only an unearned run.
Despite the series tie, Illinois remains in first in the Big Ten, two games ahead of the Minnesota Gophers.

Carlos Delgado, Florida Marlins 3 for 4, 2 2B, HR, 3 runs, 4 rbi Delgado has got to be one of the most underrated players in the MLB. Year in, year out, he puts up good numbers. He hits for power, average and isn’t afraid to take a walk.
